Manila is located in the Southeast of Luzon, which is one of the three main geographical divisions: Luzon in the north, Visayas in the middle and Mindanao in the south. The Metro Manila region is populated by estimated nearly 20 million people. The whole population in the Philippines has reached already over 100 million. This made the Philippines the 12th most populated country in the world. Almost 12 million Filipino are living and working abroad as registered OFW and are a big part of the growing economy in the Philippines.

The Philippines are surrounded by water like the South China sea in the West, the Sulu Sea in the Southwest, in the South by the Celebes Sea and in the East by the Philippine Sea. Countries in the nearest neighborhood are from the north: Taiwan, Vietnam, Borneo, Indonesia, Malaysia and Palau in the East.

The Philippines are part of the Ring of fire. This location and close to the equator makes the Philippines prone to earthquakes and typhoons, but also endows it with abundant natural resources and some of the world's greatest biodiversity. On Palawan you can visit one of the 'New7Wonders of Nature': The longest underground river with 8.2km length.
