Boracay Island here in the Philippines is a well known paradise for those beach and sun-worshippers around the world, because of the sun bleached shores of powder soft white sands that never get hot even in the afternoon sun. And Boracay Island has more than a dozen beaches and coves to explore. The most famous and popular Boracay beach is almost four kilometers long white beach, which has been named several times as one of the best beaches in the world. Most of the foreign tourist who had been here have made Boracay their yearly destination and other choose to live in this heaven.
Boracay Island is located 350 kilometers south of Manila. And it is separated from Panay Island by a narrow strait. Boracay is located opposite of the barangay Caticlan in the municipality of Malay, Aklan. Boracay Island is about 7 kilometers long and its narrowest point is barely 1 kilometer wide and with the area of 1,083 hectares. You can reach Boracay Island in two way if you are in Manila, by airplane or by RoRo (bus and ship). By airplane, Boracay is served by two airports in Aklan: The Kalibo International Airport and Godofredo P. Ramos Airport or commonly known as Caticlan Airport.
The RoRo, you can find provincial bus in Cubao going to Aklan or Iloilo and it will pass through Caticlan jetty port. Or you can go to Batangas port because 2GO, the largest ferry company in the Philippines offers regular overnight passenger and cargo service between Batangas City and Caticlan. The transportation across the island is provided by boats operating from Caticlan jetty port. The two main modes of transport in the island are via motor tricycles along the main road or by walking along the beaches.
Pedi cabs known as 'Sikads' are available along the beachfront path. Other means of transportation includes mountain bikes, quad bikes and motorbikes all of which you can rent. Boracay is really a place you have to experience by yourself. The fine white sand beaches and the crystal clear, cool waters of Boracay Island is the main attraction, the possible pleasure and adventure in this enchanting paradise are seemingly endless. There is also a wonderful array of attractions on Boracay Island to keep yourself busy exploring days and nights.
If ever you want to visit Boracay you need to know some basic facts about the different stations. Before this was named just because of that stations, where the boats unloads the passengers. Nowadays it is good to know: The red marked area is the pricier one where you have to pay some more for your stay but it will be more restful because of less noise from the Party area Station 2. This is the place, where most of the Bars are, The Mall and also most of the shopping places and if you want to party all night long, then that's your place to stay. If you want to find a cheaper place to stay or just coming as a backpacker and not so much interested in Golf and nightlife in Bars, you can stay here and have a nice vacation. Surfer, especially kite surfer will go for their hobby to Bulabog Beach. That's the windy side with no white beach.
